Bumble Bee Consulting was engaged by Rainforest Alliance in 2019 to drive program targeted at empowering smallholder tea farmers within 12 KTDA factories. This project reached 60,000 farmers and in effect impacted about 420,000 persons. Through this project, Bumble Bee Consulting helped Rainforest Alliance to accomplish the following:
- Design and develop a Digital IMS system according to the specific requirements of KTDA and the farmer groups it sources from.
- Train and support at least 200 lead farmers on data collection using the Digital IMS mobile app.
- Engage the lead farmers, with the support of 24 data analysts to consolidate and analyze data on the digital data platform.
- Facilitate dissemination of training by group administrators to certified smallholder tea producers, with data being used to empower them to improve their production systems.
